Preseason almost all arranged

With the confirmation of the date of the Joan Gamper Trophy, FC Barcelona’s first team has the bulk of its preseason laid out.


The Barça 2008/09 side managed by Josep Guardiola has its preseason pretty much mapped out. The team will be back in training in the middle of July and in the following month and a half in addition to training will play six friendlies and two official matches.

Kick off on 14 July

henryentreno250707.jpgThe first team are back at work on 14 July and will do a week’s training in Barcelona before going to Saint Andrews . They will be in Scotland from 21 to 26 July and will play friendlies against Hibs at Murrayfield on the 24th and Dundee United at Tannadice Park on the 26th.

Florence and the USA

After a few days back in Barcelona continuing with training, Barça will then go to Florence to play a friendly with Fiorentina on 30 July. The team will then set off on its FCB US Tour 2008 during which it will play CD Guadalajara on 3rd August in Chicago and the New York Red Bulls in New York on the 6th.

CL qualifier and Gamper

QM3D5848.jpgBack from the US, Barça will than have three matches, two of them at the Camp Nou. First up is the first leg of their Champions League qualifier on 12 or 13 August, to be followed by the Joan Gamper Trophy , which this year will feature Boca Juniors. Then comes the second leg of the CL qualifying tie on 26 or 27 August.

Draw on 1 August
Barça will find out who they will be playing in the qualifying round for the Champions League on 1 August. The draw, to be held in Nyon, Switzerland, will also determine whether the first leg is played at home or away.
