www.fcbarcelona.cat

FC Barcelona have accepted an invitation from Fiorentina to play a friendly on July 30 in Florence as of the Memorial for Artemio Franchi.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the death of Artemio Franchi, ACF Fiorentina will organise a UEFA endorsed event on July 30th. The FC Barcelona board agreed today for their club to take part in the game to be played in Florence in memory of one of the finest gentlemen ever to grace Italian ‘calcio'.

European year of intercultural dialogue

Previous appearances at the Comunale in Florence

Then the sides met again in the group stages of the 99/00 Champions League. Barça drew 3-3 in a relatively meaningless game as both teams had already qualified for the next round.

Artemio Franchi
Artemio Franchi was a sports administrator who led Italy at its international peak. He was twice President of the Italian Federation (from 1967 to 1976 and from 1978 to 1980) and also President of UEFA from 1973 and Vice President of FIFA from 1974, two positions he held until he was tragically killed in a road accident in 1983.
