Quick visit to the pyramids

On Tuesday morning, the FC Barcelona players enjoyed a quick visit to the city’s most famous sight, the great pyramids at Giza. Leo Messi was one of the main attractions of the trip.

There are few sights more impressive than one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and the only one to survive to this day. This morning, the Barça players got the chance to see the Menkaura, Khafra and Khufu pyramids.

Messi the star

Cameras at the ready

The players received a police escort to the area, but for security reasons their visit was kept short, as the area was packed with tourists and local fans, as well as the media, who have been following the Barça squad’s every move since their arrival in Cairo.

Back to the hotel
Once their visit to Giza was over, the players were taken back to the hotel. They will not leave until this evening, when they will be taken directly to Cairo International Stadium to play against Al-Ahly in a match being held in celebration of the local’s club’s centenary.
