Maxwell happy to be back

Anna Segura

After a tough pre-season, Maxwell made a good return to the first team against Osasuna when he put in his first few minutes of the campaign.

Next training session on Monday
The squad have been given Sunday off and will not start to prepare for Wednesday’s league game against Valencia until Monday when they are due to train at the Ciutat Esportiva at 11.00. Following the session, Thiago Alcántara will speak to the media.
Maxwell had been out injured since the final of the Audi Cup on July 27th in Munich, but on Saturday night he came on after 54 minutes for his first appearance of the season and after the game he said: “I’m happy for the opportunity and for the way we played. I’d also like to thank everyone who helped me”.

Gradually getting back to match fitness

Maxwell believes that the game time he got against Osasuna will help him get up to full match fitness: “I feel good. I am gradually getting time in and I’ll be ready for when I am needed”. He also commented on the goalfest at the Camp Nou: “it was a very complete game –a real show for the fans”.

Below are some of the other players’ post match reactions:

Sergio Busquets

“What we had to do was go out and win. We got the result and demolished the opposition”.

“People also questioned us last season and talked about a period coming to an end, but we are used to that”.

Cesc Fábregas

“This is Barça and we know what pressures are on us here. This team has made history over the last three years and it was as if two draws meant we were sinking!”

“I needed to feel that pressure, winning or losing and I am enjoying it and looking forward to more”,

Javier Mascherano

“In general terms we put in a good performance, but it wasn’t that different to Tuesday’s –just that we were sharper up front, we had plenty of chances against Milan, but couldn’t put them away”.

“ We showed that this team is alive and we still have plenty to come. We are hungry to achieve things”.

Dani Alves

“We are a team who always go out to win. We put in a serious game and we got a great result”

“The most important thing is that we don’t change the way we play and the way we go about things. That’s what makes a great team”.
