Abidal the new face in training

The second training session of the day on Monday evening featured the newly arrived Eric Abidal. The French international joined the rest of the squad after undergoing a series of medical tests in the morning.

Eric was the first new face to join the group after the first week of training. The French international is back in Barcelona after World Cup duty and a brief holiday. He started the day with the usual per-season medical on Monday morning.

Discussions with Guardiola

Manager Josep Guardiola spent some time talking to Abidal at the beginning of the session with both men in evident good humour.

Same group as in the morning session

Apart from Abidal, the training session featured the same 27 players that took part in the morning session. The usual routine was modified to include an entertaining possession exercise – a good way to lighten the load of a day with a double training session.

The squad will be back at work on Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock for the first of two sessions.
