Villa’s best

Sandra Sarmiento

David Villa scored a classic goal for fans to save on their videos against Deportivo in December 2006. Scoring from 50 yards out with what he’s always claimed as his best ever strike.

Villa has always been a goal scorer and since making the move to Barça he’s chalked up 11 La Liga goals, including braces against Seville, Madrid and Espanyol, but he’s always insisted his best ever came four years ago at the Riazor when he was with Valencia.

Great strike

villa1_x1x.jpgIn December 2006, with Quique Sánchez Flores in charge, Valencia went off to La Coruña in the middle of a fight with Madrid for second place behind a distant Barça. Deportivo were themselves after a place in Europe and the game was decided when Villa beat Coloccini and bagged his 14th goal of the campaign with a shot that beat Molina from 50 yards out.

10 goals against Deportivo

2010-10-30_FCB_-_SEVILLA_FC_010.jpgVilla will be making his first visit to La Coruña as a Barça player on Saturday, but he has a great record at the ground, having scored 10 goals in 13 games against them, only ever having lost twice, both times in the 2003/04 season when he was with Zaragoza.
Villa’s best
One short of 150 in La Liga
Villa’s first La Liga goal came on 14th September 2003 at La Romareda in Zaragoza’s 3-1 win against Murcia. He scored 31 times with Zaragoza and a further 107 with Valencia, which when added to his 11 with Barça this season, take him to 149 -will the 150th come on Saturday?
