Barça go top of Group F

www.fcbarcelona.cat

The three points won against Inter have catapulted Barça to the top of Group F. In fact, Barça could now qualify even if they lose in Kiev in the last match of the group stage.

Barça’s chances in Group F have improved dramatically after last night’s 2-0 win against Inter and the draw between Rubin and Dynamo Kiev in Kazan. Barça are now top with 8 points, followed by inter and Rubin with 6 and Dynamo Kiev with 5.

The possibilities for Barça

A win or a draw in Barça’s last match against Dynamo would guarantee a place in the last 16. A defeat would also do as long as it is not by more than one goal.

Top spot

If Barça draw against Dynamo, everything will depend on the result of the match between Inter and Rubin in the Giuseppe Meazza. A draw in that match would leave Barça in first place even if they lost by the minimum.

Hope for Dynamo

For their part, Dynamo will definitely go through if they beat Barça by more than a goal. Otherwise they will be dependant on the result in the other match between Inter and Rubin. If that’s a draw then Rubin and Inter would be eliminated.

Kazan and Dynamo draw
Rubin Kazan and Dynamo Kiev fought out a goalless draw in the snow in Russia. The first half was evenly balanced though Rubin increased the pressure in the quarter of an hour before the break. Rubin keeper Shovkovskiy pulled off a great save from an acrobatic effort by 'Chori' Domínguez. For Dynamo, Jaronov had to be replaced due to injury.

Dynamo upped their game after the break and the match became more balanced. However, there were no more clear goal scoring opportunities although Rubin did go for the win towards the end but without luck.
