“I’ve never seen such an emotional ceremony”

Edgar Fornós

FCB sports vice-president, Rafael Yuste, and technical secretary Txiki Begiristain represented the Club at an emotional ceremony in memory of Robert Enke on Sunday.

Representatives of FC Barcelona, led by sports vice-president, Rafael Yuste, and technical secretary Txiki Begiristain, attended a tribute to the man who defended the Barça colours in the 2002-03 season. The ceremony was held in Enke’s club stadium, Hanover, and was attended by many of his friends and colleagues from the world of football, including Jurgen Klinsman, Olivier Bierhoff and Rudi Voeller.

Rafa Yuste was surprised by the intensity of the event. “I’ve never seen such an emotional ceremony. The stadium was completely full. He (Enke) was accompanied by his club and country team-mates”.

Support and condolences

Yuste explained that FC Barcelona wanted to share the family’s grief at such a tragic moment:”The president of Hanover 96 was very happy to see a delegation from FC Barcelona at the tribute. Who went or not is the least important. We wanted to be present in person and above all give our support and our condolences to his family and team-mates”.
