Ibrahimovic trains with the squad

Zlatan Ibrahimovic trained normally with the FC Barcelona squad for the first time since he joined the club after spending his first weeks working alone after undergoing surgery on his hand.

After two trips abroad, the Blaugrana players reported back for duty to the Ciutat Esportiva and began their preparations for the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Athletic Club on Sunday in San Mamés.

2009-08-12_IBRAHIMOVIC_06.jpgAfter an inspection by Doctor Ricard Pruna on Tuesday afternoon, Ibrahimovic was given the green light to return to training as the injury to his hand has healed enough for him to be able to work properly. Just to eb sure that nothing untoward happened however, the striker did have to have a protective bar put in to the strapping on his wrist to stop his hand from being knocked.

Jeffren, Jonathan Dos Santos, Marc Muniesa and Andreu Fontàs worked alongside 13 first-team players.

Messi our of action
Lionel Messi will not play for Argentina in their friendly against Russia on Wednesday evening, coach Diego Maradona confirmed after he suffered a muscle pull. The Barça first team doctors have been in touch with the Argentinian medical staff to discuss the injury. Messi will stay with the squad in Moscow and return, as expected, to Barcelona on Thursday, when he will undergo further tests.
