The 26 for the US

The coaching staff have announced the players called up for the club’s US tour starting this Wednesday. Four reserve team players are in the party and both Hleb and Cáceres are missing.

From 29 July to 9 August FC Barcelona will be on the second stage of their preseason programme: the club’s US tour. There will be 26 players going, and the main difference compared to London will be the presence of the internationals who played in the Confederations Cup: Puyol, Xavi, Piqué, Busquets and Alves, as well as Iniesta.

Pep Guardiola has reaffirmed his faith in his reserves with Muniesa, Fontàs, Jonathan dos Santos, Jeffren and Gai all travelling with the first team squad.

Despite his hand injury Zlatan Ibrahimovic will also travel with his new teammates.

Thus the squad is as follows:

Valdés, Pinto, Jorquera, Puyol, Alves, Víctor Sánchez, Piqué, Márquez, Henrique, Abidal, Maxwell, Xavi, Touré, Keita, Busquets, Gudjohnsen, Iniesta, Henry, Pedro, Messi, Bojan, Ibrahimovic, Muniesa, Fontàs, Jonathan dos Santos, Jeffren and Gai.

Evening training at Sant Joan Despí
The team trained this Tuesday evening at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. The main difference with the morning session was the presence of Gai Assulin, one of the reserve players who will be going on the US tour.

A visitor to the session was Mexican ex-president Vicente Fox, who spoke briefly to his fellow countryman Rafa Márquez.
