After his second successive hat trick, Leo Messi was praised by all his teammates in their post match comments.

For his fellow Argentinean Gaby Milito: “he’ll go down in history. Every game he does something that surprises you. He’s got a gift, he’s fantastic and getting better every week. Once again, he was outstanding”.

Milito was also happy with his own performance on his return to La Romareda: “this was a special game for me, they always treated me very well in Zaragoza . I’m feeling good on the pitch and I’m trying to improve with every game. I want to thank Pep for the confidence he’s showing in me”.

Below are the players’ post-match comments

Messi:

“Goals are always down to the whole team – we are all playing out on the pitch. Today I was lucky enough to score”.

“I let Ibra take the penalty, because he’s a striker and he needs to get a goal to break his dry spell”.

“I don’t know if that second goal is the best I’ve ever scored – it all happened so fast, I’ll have to see it on the TV”.

“I feel good. I think I’ve shown how strong I am again and that we can win this league, despite the pressure from Madrid”.

“I prefer team titles – the League and Champions League are more important than any individual awards”.

“I like to play and I like to win, and the more things we win the better!”

Busquets:

“Messi is a very important player for us and we have to take advantage of his great moment of form”

“He came off the pitch with the ball and we all congratulated him”.

Maxwell:

“We all enjoy playing with Leo when he’s playing like this. Thank heavens he’s in our team!”

”The team’s playing well and that gives Leo more freedom to invent things”

“The two goals we conceded show that we can’t relax. A mistake put us under pressure, but the team showed they could react”.

“The grass was a bit long and that complicated things for us, but we were focussed and we overcame that”.

“Ibra is a bit down, but the penalty will do him good. We are all right behind him and we know he’s a great goal scorer”.

Alves:

“If Messi continues like this, he’ll have a great future”

“You have to focus on Messi, but it’s also important that Ibra was on target again. He has to get back in the scoring groove again and we are all helping him and happy about tonight’s goal”.
Milito: “He’s got a gift”
