Messi overtakes Ronnie

Anna Segura

Leo Messi’s goal against Malaga was his 71st in the league and it takes him ahead of Ronaldinho in the club’s all time league scorers table.

After two games without a goal, Messi was back on target against Malaga, scoring the winner that ensured the team spend another week on top of the league table and also put him ahead of Ronaldinho in the list of the club’s all time league goal scorers.

Great goals to games ratio

One more than Ronaldinho

Ronaldinho, who played for Barca between 2003/04 and 2007/08, played 145 league games and scored 70 goals, averaging 0.48 goals a game.

16th in club

Most goals against Atletico Madrid and Sevilla

There are only two league clubs that Messi has so far failed to score against – Jerez and Villarreal, whilst his favourite victims are Atletico Madrid and Seville against both of whom he has scored 7 goals.

Leading scorer
Saturday night’s goal also put Messi back on top of the Spanish League leading goalscorers this season. The Argentinian shares top spot on 17 goals with Valencia’s David Villa, who plays today. Messi is now just 6 goals short of last season’s total, 23, with 14 games still to play.
