Bartra: “I’ll remember this for being my debut”

With so many defensive absentees, Marc Bartra made his first team debut against Atlético Madrid, and despite defeat, was pleased with the experience.

“I am very happy, it’s just a shame I couldn’t help the team to win, but I’ll remember this for being my debut and the how it has given me for the future” said Bartra. “They were fast players, very difficult, you need to concentrate hard. From the moment I went on, I knew had to play at the same level as they were and work hard in defence. It was a difficult game to come into”.

The following were other comments made by the players:

“I’m partly happy and partly sad."
“We are losing players, but the doctors and physios are working to help them get fit as soon as possible.” “It was no warning. We slipped up and all we can do now is look ahead, to the next game. We lost but we have to keep focused on the next game”.
“We made a couple of mistakes, but I don’t want to give my opinion, that’s for the boss to do”.
“Now I just want to win all we can, and to get as many minutes as possible”.
“The pitch was not in good condition. It was very wet and some of the players were slipping.”

“Atlético used the counter attacks and free kicks well. Perhaps we were missing accuracy with our passing, but we kept trying until the end”.
“There are all kinds of game. It is never perfect and you can’t always win. Today we have lost at a difficult ground, but we are still top”.
“It is very hard never to lose, but you never want to lose. But you lose games in leagues. It is important for us to analyse what went wrong and make sure we get three points next week against Racing”.
“It is always tough to lose, it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. but we haven’t lost anything, we are just as confident as ever”.

“The game didn’t go well and they scored early on. It was a difficult match … we tried shooting but they wouldn’t go in. It was hard”.
“I’d rather not score as long as the team wins. The 3 points are what really matter. I do what I can to help the team”.
“Atlético were very aggressive. But the important thing is that we are still top of the league, and as long as we stay there, that’s great. We have to stay focused on ourselves and not worry about the other teams”
