Abidal out for 6-8 weeks

www.fcbarcelona.cat

Éric Abidal, who limped out of the training session in Reus, will be out of action for between 6 and 8 weeks after club doctors confirmed a tear in his left abductor muscle. Pique and Iniesta also left the session early with slight knocks.

2010-02-09_ENTRENO_31.JPGThe Reus training session brought another headache for Pep Guardiola whose defence will already be without Alves, Touré, Márquez and Piqué for Sunday’s game in Madrid, when Eric Abidal suffered a thigh injury that will force out for up to 8 weeks.

Abidal came back to Barcelona before the rest of the players for tests at the club medical services and doctors later announced that he would be out for between 6 and 8 weeks.

It’s unfortunately not Abidal’s first injury this season after he came back injured from the international break in November. Although the doctors predicted he would be out for three weeks then, he came back earlier than predicted.

So far this season Abidal has played 26 games: 14 in the League, 2 in the Cup, 6 in the Champions League, 2 in the World Club Cup and 1 in each of the two Super Cups.

Piqué and Iniesta also brought off early
Gerard Piqué got a knock on his left foot and Andres Iniesta with one on his right, also came off early from the training session, but this was more to be on the safe side, rather than because of any seriousness of their injuries.
