FC Barcelona have begun the new Year on a high as Andrés Iniesta was given the all clear to start playing again after recovering from injury while Seydou Keita has also returned to training.

With 2010 under way coach Pep Guardiola was given one piece of news that he was hoping for as club medics gave him the green light. The playmaker has been out since suffering a knock in the semi final of the Club World Cup in mid-December.

Same again

Barça began the New Year as they ended the previous one by training at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper complex ahead of the game against Villarreal at the weekend.

Keita continued his recuperation and worked on the pitch for the first time since the Christmas holidays. The Malian midfielder has remained in Barcelona with his country’s permission instead of travelling to join them ahead of the African Cup of Nations. Jeffren worked in the gymnasium.
