FC Barcelona’s first team squad enjoyed their second training session of the week as they continued their preparations for the game against Villarreal on Sunday and Carles Puyol, Rafa Márquez and Touré Yaya all returned.


The Blaugrana travel to El Madrigal for the last match of the year before the league takes a festive break and the Catalan outfit are keen to celebrate with a victory. The hard work continued on Wednesday as the players were put through their paces on the pitch in the Miniestadi and Pep Guardiola was able to count on every member of his squad apart from Gabriel Milito.

Puyol, Márquez and Touré

entreno_171208_x3x.jpgPuyol, Márquez and Touré were all back in action too after missing Tuesday’s training session for various reasons. The club captain had a dental problem, while the Mexican defender had a muscle strain and the Ivory Coast midfielder was laid low with a migraine. The trio all recovered from their varying ailments though in time to join the rest of the players on Wednesday.

Stoichkov school visit

entreno_171208_x2x.jpgLike always the session started with the usual warm-up exercises and stretching routines before the players were joined by a team from Bulgaria who are over as part of the Hristo Stoichkov Football School. On Monday, the visiting side played a game against a team made up of Barça youth team players and the hosts recorded a comfortable 5-1 victory.

Eto'o in anti-malaria game
Samuel Eto’o was present for training the morning after he had participarted in a charity match. The Cameroonian striker played in a game against malaria between side known as the Friends of Iker (Casillas) and the Friends of Rafa (Nadal). Eto’o netted twice and was joined by a host of famous names for the good cause including Casillas, Nadal, Santi Cazorla, Marcos Senna, Raúl, Frederic Kanouté, Fernando Alonso, Jorge Lorenzo, Alberto Contador and Novak Djokovic.
