Barça’s victory in Malaga and Valencia’s 2-4 home defeat at the hands of Racing have put Guardiola’s men at the top of La Liga.

Barça go back on top, after temporarily being there last weekend. But this time, Real Madrid will have to beat Almeria by at least nine goals difference to knock Barça off the top spot.

Racing victory

Valencia has handed the top spot over to Barça after losing at home 2-4 to Racing Santander. The star of the game was Tchité, who got a hat-trick for the visitors. He got the first goal of the game in the 22nd minute. Villa got a goal back for Valencia in the 28th minute from the penalty spot. Tchité put Racing back on top, and then Joaquín put the home side level. Tchité sentenced the game in the 79th minute with his hat-trick, and Albelda scored an own-goal five minutes later.

Last time on top

Despite temporarily being legue leaders last weekend, Barça haven’t been in the number one spot since the 33rd game of the 2006/07 season, when they beat Real Sociedad 0-2, a year and a half ago.
