“We needed the three points”

Jordi Clos

The Barça players were very happy with the win, the goals and the manner in which they played at El Molinon.

Victor Valdes voiced the feelings in the Barça dressing room after the game against Sporting Gijon: “We’re very happy; it was a great game to watch and we needed the three points”. According to him, “it was imperative to start well against a Sporting team that comes out running”. The goalkeeper, who explained that the knee problems he was having in the second half were “only a scare”, was unable to keep a clean sheet but he is clear that: “Keeping a clean sheet when you score five or six is not important”.

The other stars of the day were of a similar opinion.

Sergio Busquets

“I’m here to help the team in whatever way I can. When things are going well and you’re in the first team you gain a lot of confidence.”

“I felt comfortable but Sporting play the counter attack very well and you have to concentrate when we lose the ball.”

Leo Messi

“Luckily, things went well for us. We came here to play a good came and it worked out for us.”

“We know we have to be patient and that with our game the goals will come.”

“We’re aware of the talent we have in our dressing room and we believe in what we are capable of achieving.”

“The stadium and the fans of Sporting are incredible and they are an example to follow for all Spanish football fans.”

Rafa Marquez

“In dead ball situations we attack the ball and this brings results.”

“Despite conceding a goal, it was important to get a result like this.”

Samuel Eto'o

“We’ve been playing well but the ball just wasn’t going in. Today almost everything went in.”

“There was never a doubt about the team’s ability to score goals. I’ve alays said that Barça don’t have a problem in attack.”

“The supporters were amazing. This is a real football stadium.”

Xavi

“We needed a win and it was well deserved.”

Dani Alves

”It’s the way to go on, with the team working hard and on form in attack.”

“We have to get three from three and we hadn’t won for two games. It’s a very important win.”
