First training session in Krakow

Edgar Fornós

Barça have played their first training session on the field that will be used for their Champions second leg match against Wisla. Barça don’t want any nasty surprises and are keen to smoothly seal their passage into the group stages.

The team exercised on a pitch in excellent conditions, and the weather, with the temperature of 17 degrees, was ideal. They used the same kind of ball as they will use in the actual match against Polish league outfit Wisla Krakow.

Pinto a last minute doubt

WEB_ENTRENO_03.jpgAll of the players in Krakow will be under their manager’s orders minus José Manuel Pinto, who is a doubt until the final moments with an injured elbow. Pinto worked out with the team, but with less intensity. Pep Guardiola has taken the precautionary measure of also travelling with Barça Atlètic’s Ruben Miño.

Wisla out for revenge

Wisla Krakow are desperate to prove to Barça that they are capable of much more than they were able to achieve in the first leg at the Camp Nou. Polish manager Maciej Skorza has said the team will go out in full force from the start, but knows that the challenge is a difficult one. He also has central player Cantoro suspended and is also missing the injured Sobolewski and Glowacki.

Ground being renovated
The Henryk Reyman grandstand in Krakow is being rebuilt at the moment as the stadium is redesigned ahead of the European Championship taking place in the country in 2012, for which it is not only being expanded but also being made more modern and comfortable.
