“Good news for a good start”

Marc Guillén

Daniel Alves is delighted to be able to play the opening league match away to Numancia. He spoke exclusively to Barça TV and www.fcbarcelona.cat about the amnesty announced by the Spanish FA.

The Spanish FA has amnestied all the players who had accumulated less than a four-match ban from last season. As a result, Alves – who had a one-match ban left over – will be able to play the first league game of the season.

“I didn’t expect it”

200808alves_x3x.JPG“I’m very happy because I didn’t expect it. I’m very happy because for me it was very important to begin the competition. It’s good news for a good start”. Before the amnesty was announced, Alves was due to miss the match against Numancia because of a red card against Sevilla.

Ready to face Numancia

WEB_PRUNA_01.jpgThe head of the Club’s medical services, Ricard Pruna, also confirmed that Alves would be fit to play against Numancia and might even be ready for the return leg of the CL game against Wisla. His recovery from injury is going according to schedule.

“The diagnosis of a grade one strain has been confirmed and it is evolving well. He’s already doing water exercises and field work. We won’t rush his return but he certainly won’t have any problem to play against Numancia. We hope that he’ll be able to play against the Poles but we’ll have to wait until the final stage of the recovery process”.

Keen to play in Krakow
Daniel Alves doesn’t want to miss any matches with Barça and assured us that he’s keen to play the second leg of the CL qualifier: “I want to play against Wisla and join in with the team. I hope to avoid injury. I want to play and enjoy the football produced by our team”.
