Top performances from Barca players in South Africa

Jesús Carrillo

The five Barca players involved in the Confederations Cup in South Africa have won all their games, Xavi, Piqué, Busquets and Puyol with Spain and Dani Alves with Brazil. Results that put them on course for a showdown in the final in Johannesburg.

Wednesday sees Spain in the first semi-final against USA, with Brazil taking on hoists South Africa the following day. Xavi Hernández is the Barca player with most minutes at the tournament so far.

Four against South Africa

pique_busi.jpgXavi, Puyol, Piqué and Busquets all played 90 minutes for Spain against South Africa, the game with most Barca players on the pitch so far. Xavi is the Braca player with most minutes in the tournament having played 226 minutes whilst Puyol and Pique have both played 180 minutes, whilst Busquets played just 7 minutes against Iraq and then the whole match against South Africa.

Alves sidelined by Dunga

Whist Dan I Alves made a great start for Brazil against Egypt, taking the right back slot in the starting line up and setting up two goals, the Brazilian boss Dunga has gone for Maicon rather than the Barca defender in the last two games.

Brazil Spain final?
The five are the only Barca players yet to start their summer break and with both Spain and Brazil favourites in their semi finals, it could well be that they wrap up a wonderful season with a win, for Alves or his Spanish counterparts, in the Confederations Cup.
