The club chairman spoke about the latest developments at the club and was relaxed about the make up of the squad for next season. As for Eto'o, he said that “the club would like him to be here for a lot more years”.

Joan Laporta, who was attending the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Cardedeu Supporters’ Club, spoke about current events at Barça, and in particular Samuel Eto'o’s future. For Laporta “he’s the best striker in the world”.

“Eto'o ends his contract next season and that means we have to sit down and talk,” he went on. “The club would like him to be here for a lot more years in line with our salary structure.”

Players who want to win silverware

Even though he was understandably unwilling to reveal names of potential signings, he did say they would be “players who want to win silverware”.

Attractive sports proposition

Any player who comes here needs to be really good.”
