Los Angeles Galaxy to open the US tour

On 1st August, FC Barcelona will play the first of three matches on the USA tour against one of North America’s most well-known teams, Los Angeles Galaxy.


After taking on Tottenham and Al-Ahly in London, Josep Guardiola and his squad will fly to the USA for a further three friendlies, the first of them against David Beckham’s current team, Los Angeles Galaxy.

A reference point

RoseBowl.jpgThe Californian outfit is one of the most successful in Major League Soccer (MLS) and has won the tournament twice. They are also one of only two US teams to win the CONCACAF Champions League and were one of the ten founder members of the MLS.

Bruce Arena

The current manger of Los Angeles Galaxy is Bruce Arena, the former national manager who took the USA to the quarterfinals of the 2002 World Cup and the group stage of the 2006 tournament. Previous managers have included Lothar Matthäus and Ruud Gullit.

The Rose Bowl
Since 2003, Los Angeles Galaxy have been playing their home matches in the Home Depot Center in Carson, a stadium they have shared for the past four years with cross-town rivals Chivas. Before the move they played their matches in the legendary Rose Bowl in Pasadena, where the match against FC Barcelona will take place.
