19 in squad for clásico

Josep Guardiola will take 19 players with him to face Madrid at the Bernabéu. The injured Márquez and Milito will be staying behind with Víctor Sánchez and Pedro, the latter having been named in the reserves.

The first team trained on Friday morning after taking a rest on Thursday. Pep Guardiola’s side worked out at the Ciudad Deportiva Joan Gamper in Sant Joan Despí in their final meeting before heading for Madrid.

Márquez out

01-04-09_WEB_MESSI_01.jpgRafa Márquez will not be playing against Madrid, and will be receiving surgery on Saturday after picking up an injury against Chelsea . The Mexican joins Gaby Milito in the treatment room, while Víctor Sánchez, Pinto and Pedro have all been dropped. However, Pedro does have a game on Sunday at 12.00 in the Mini between Barça Atlètic and Sabadell.

One more to go

But although Guardiola is taking 19 players to Madrid, one of them will be left out of the definitive list.

Barça will be flying out on the day of the match, leaving the Camp Nou at 10.00 to head for El Prat Airport. The flight will leave about an hour later, and then the players will stay in their hotel for an hour or so before heading off to the Santiago Bernabéu.
