Xavi: “This is completely recoverable”

www.fcbarcelona.cat

Xavi stated that the situation at FC Barcelona is "completely recoverable" after the team tasted defeat for the second consecutive time in the league on Sunday evening.

The Catalan midfielder was confident that things would change despite the Blaugrana losing 4-3 in what was a thrilling encounter in the Vicente Calderón. Optimism was still high among the players that the side would bounce back and Xavi explained that "we have been a bit crazy, with control, with controlling the game and with a lead in our favour at the break. It is a shame that we have not won and that we let points escape us. Atlético de Madrid have a potent defensive set-up and they took their chances well", he explained.

"Now we just have to continue to work hard," he continued. "We will give everything that we have, although this time around it was not to be. We are optimistic and I think the team is more united than ever and we are still out in front at the top of the table. It is a shame that we lost two consecutive matches, but we will carry on going. This situation can be turned around and we will be looking to do that in the games on Wednesday and Saturday."

Below is what some of the players had to say.

Carles Puyol

"It was an important game for us and we wanted to take all three points and for that reason the goal of Forlán was a pain because it gave them belief. After we have come back again and yet again they have done the same."

"It was an open match, the two teams went for goals and there were so many chances."

"That is football and these runs can happen, but we have to continue to believe in ourselves. We will not lose confidence and we want to start winning again as quickly as possible.

"[Real Madrid] have gained in confidence and they have had some good results, but we are working hard even if the last few results have not been what we wanted."

Henry

"Personally, I felt good. I scored twice in the game."

"I never like losing games."

"We have to qualify for the final of the Copa del Rey and then think about the league again."

Dani Alves

"We are on a run of four games in which we have not won and we intend to try and put an end to that."

"We are ready for the pressure that will come from Madrid."

"We just intend to continue working and try to return to our best so that we can start winning again."
