Guardiola: “One bad result hasn’t dampened our spirits”

Edgar Fornós

FC Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola has said that “despite losing to Espanyol, the team is just as positive as they were the first day”.

It is time to put the League aside and return thoughts to the Champions League and Olympique Lyon. Manager Josep Guardiola is still confident despite the derby setback. “I am as satisfied or even more satisfied now as I was before losing to Espanyol. Although we didn’t win, the players never stop trying and creating chances”.

In his press conference before the game with Olympique Lyon, Guardiola said his team was ready to resume their excellent run of results since the start of the season. “We are fine. We know it will be difficult to beat a team like Lyon. We will try to play well and put the last league match behind us”.

Lyon danger

Juninho Pernanbucano is a free kick specialist. They are a side that defends well and up front they have some quality players like Delgado and Benzema”.

Solid project

The Barça boss feels Lyon is one of the strongest sides in Europe right now: “A team like Olympique Lyon, that has had so many different managers but carries on winning leagues means they have a very slid project and have found a way of paying that brings results”.

Mind only set on winning
There are 180 minutes ahead, but Guardiola is convinced that “we will go out to win from the first minute. That is the way we play and we won’t wait if we get the chance to settle the tie at the Gerland Stadium.”
