Puyol: “We're confident"

Marc Guillén

FC Barcelona captain Carles Puyol has full confidence in his team, and he’s in no doubt that Barça has to continue playing in the same style in order to win silverware this season.

The defeat against Espanyol (1-2) hasn’t made the players lose faith in their chances, nor in the work in progress this season

“We know the way”

“We haven’t had good results in the last two games, but we haven’t lost our self-confidence, we know the way, and we have to continue playing in the same style”, he stated a day after Real Madrid closed the difference to seven points.

Welcome to the Champions League

Without time to get depressed, the team trained today and they are looking forward to their Champions League tie away at Lyon this Tuesday: “Losing always hurts, you feel it in the dressing room, but we’re looking forward to the next match”.

Puyol has a lot of respect for Olympique Lyon, and he doesn’t see Barça as favourite: “It’s 50/50. They’re a solid team with some great players. It’s an important game on Tuesday”.

“We were affected by the stoppages”
The “blaugrana” centre-half wouldn’t comment on the refereeing in the Barcelona derby, but admitted they were affected by the high number of stoppages, as well as Keita’s sending-off. The Barça captain stated: “It was hard, because there wasn’t much time to actually play. The high number of stoppages really went against us, because we want to play the full 90 minutes, but it’s hard refereeing, and I’d prefer not to comment”.
