Touré: “I’m happy at Barça”

David Puig

Touré is glad to be at Barça and plans to stay for many more years. The Ivorian also spoke about the challenge of a derby against Espanyol in the quarter finals of the Copa del Rey.

Touré Yaya brushed aside the speculations about his future that have been appearing in the sports press of late. “It is very important for me too feel happy, and that’s how I feel at Barça. My aim is to stay here for many more years, and right now I am just thinking about my work and not about renewing my contract. That depends on the president and also on the members. I’m happy at the moment”.

Espanyol will not be easy

In his Thursday press conference, Touré was clearly enthusiastic about the prospect of facing neighbours Espanyol in the Copa del Rey: “It’ll be very nice to play Espanyol. We’ll be highly focused on getting through the round. The second leg is at home, but first we’ll have to win at Montjuïc, which won’t be easy”. Touré was also asked to comment on the possible repetition of the unfortunate events the last time the two sides met at the Estadio Olímpico Lluís Companys: “I hope that doesn’t happen again. It’s not good for football. The important thing about this game is the show we the players can put on”.

“Getting harder and harder to win”
Touré is finding that teams are playing it increasingly tougher and more defensively against Barcelona. “The team is finding it harder and harder to win because our opponents keep it tight at the back. This football is more physical than skilful and some sides are committing too many fouls. The games are getting harder all the time”.
