Rivaldo greets former colleagues

While his team, Bunyodkor of Uzbekistan, are in the city on a training camp, Rivaldo made a point of attending Tuesday’s training session at the Miniestadi.

Pep Guardiola’s Tuesday morning training session at the Miniestadi had a very special visitor in Rivaldo. The former Barça striker is in town with his new side, but still has fond memories of the time he spent at the local club and was curious to see just what it is that is making the current Barça squad so special.

Old pals

Among his oldest friends we find Carles Puyol, who he played alongside for three seasons, and Xavi who was his team-mate from 1998/99 to 2001/02.

Touré Yaya was also keen to say hi to Rivaldo. The duo lined up together for Olimpiakos in the 2005/06 season. And then of course there were also Dani Alves and Sylvinho, fellow Brazilians, the latter of which has played alongside Rivaldo in the national side.

Long chat with Guardiola
As the session drew to a close, Josep Guardiola made a point of saying hello to Rivaldo, and they went on to talk at considerable length. They are old friends, because throughout his period at Barça, from 1997/98 to 2000/01, Rivaldo was in the same squad as the current Barcelona manager.
