Sylvinho: “We did a good job”

Anna Segura

Against Alcoyano, Sylvinho returned to the side as a left back. The Barça player admitted that it was “a psychologically important win for the team”.

On Tuesday evening, Barça sentenced their Copa del Rey tie with Alcoyano. The squad were delighted with the win not only for what it means for this competition but also because it was a major confidence booster ahead of the forthcoming series of crunch games.

Sylvinho:

“It was an important game for us. Normally these are hard games but we managed to impose our rhythm”.

“Alcoyano had a lot of respect for us and we were playing on a difficult pitch”.

“We did a good job. It was psychologically important for the team. It has encouraged us ahead of the next League games”.

“I always think the team is serious, but in some games things work out well and in others they don’t”.

Giovani dos Santos:

“I’m hurt. Let’s hope it’s nothing major. It was a painful knock and I hope it doesn’t mean anything serious”.

Albert Jorquera:

“It was an intense game, nice to play in. I want to carry on playing in the cup”.

“It was very intense, there was a lot of attitude. It was one of those games where things could have got complicated but the team fought hard for the result”.

Bojan Krkic:

“I am happy with the way things worked out”.

Giovani to take tests on Wednesday
Giovani dos Santos left the pitch on a stretcher in the 59th minute after suffering the effects of a vicious tackle from Alcoyano’s Carrión. Early examinations suggest that the player has taken a heavy contusion in his left ankle, but more will be revealed following tests on Wednesday.
