Krkic takes the record from Messi

Bojan Krkic's goal against Villarreal last weekend ensured that the striker became the youngest player to ever score in the league for FC Barcelona.

The starlet took the mantle from his close friend, Lionel Messi, who became the previous youngest when he scored in 2005. Krkic netted the goal aged 17 years, one month and 22 days, to beat his Argentinian team-mate by almost eight-and-a-half months. The game against the Yellow Submarine was also the first time that Krkic had started an official game for the Blaugrana first team.

Old friends

Krkic and Messi have known each for some time as both players came up through the youth ranks at Camp Nou. In April 2004, when they were both still plying their trade for the young teams, Barça TV met the pair. Among other things, the pair discussed how they came to join the club and revealed that they both dreamed of playing for the first team one day.
