100 games for Deco

Miriam Nadal

Deco played his 100th league game for FC Barcelona against Real Zaragoza on Wednesday, and said today that his dream is to continue playing games and winning titles for Barça.

He was speaking on the Zona Mixta programme on Barça TV, and said “I have had three nice seasons with wins, twice in the league and once in the Champions, and now I want to carry on winning titles and playing games for Barça. That’s my dream, in this and in any other year.”

Happy at Barça

He went on to say that “wins give us more confidence and tranquillity in our work and I think the most important thing is for us to keep getting better and playing well…We are improving in terms of defensive consistency and playing at a fast pace. That guarantees that we have a future.”

Messi and Ronaldinho

He also praised his colleagues, starting with, Leo Messi. “He is on great form but for those of us who are with him every day it comes as no surprise, although one thing is knowing what you are capable of doing, and another is actually doing it on the pitch” said Deco.

The Portuguese international then moved on to Ronaldinho. He said “Ronaldinho has made history at Barça; he changed the club’s history and just for that he deserves respect. He was the best player in the world and with a bit of work, he still can be.”

Pleased with the fans
Deco is always willing to appreciate the delights of playing for the Camp Nou crowd. He knows that in order to win titles it is primordial to make sure they play well at home. “The fans are the ones that know the most about football. It is always an honour to feel the care and respect of such a demanding set of fans. It is something you can never forget.”
