Valdés: "We have the best attack"

Anna Segura

Víctor Valdés has no doubt that FC Barcelona will be exciting to watch this season as he believes that the Blaugrana have the "best attack that a team can have".

The 25-year-old goalkeeper has returned to pre-season training and revealed his delight at the new faces in the squad and is confident that the team will be even stronger next term. "There have been important signings for each area of the team," he said. "We have incredible players in every position. Up front, well, we have the best forward line in the world. The best that a team could have with players who have such quality mixed with youth."

Showing respect

It will be a very competitive league". On that note, the Barça custodian added: "We will have to remain focussed and show respect to every team we play."

Defending the defence

Reflecting on the arrival of Gaby Milito to the club, Valdés said: "He will be an important player and is one of the best defenders in the world." Even with the arrival of the Argentinian and Éric Abidal at the back, Valdés denied that the team lost the league title last term due to defensive frailties and said that it was down to "an accumulation of circumstances".

The internal code

Saviola’s move
Víctor Váldes showed a similar sentiment when asked about Javier Saviola's move to Real Madrid, stating: "I wish him the best as a person, but as a player not so much. I respect his decision though."
