Milito passes medical

Sergi Nogueras / Vanessa Forns

Gabriel Milito passed his medical on Thursday and Club doctors emphasised that he has no injury problems whatsoever.

QM3D9613.JPGFirst team doctor, Ricard Pruna, told us: “We’ve carried out all the tests stipulated by the Club and he has passed them satisfactorily. As regards his muscles he’s totally clean, without any injuries or after-effects. We paid more attention to the cardiac exploration due to his history, and to his right knee. The cardio-respiratory tests were perfect and don’t present any limitations on playing top flight football”.

Gaby Milito reported first thing Thursday morning to the Hospital de Barcelona, where he underwent a battery of tests and scans. The tests then continued at the Camp Nou medical centre, where he arrived at about 11 am. The 1.78 m tall defender, who weighed in at 77 kilos, then had blood pressure, cardiac and strength tests.

His knee

QM3D9583.JPGMilito had an operation on the cruciate ligament of his right knee in 2001, so Dr Pruna was especially interested in this aspect of the medical: “Since then he’s worked on the muscles and done specific training that has permitted him to play quite normally during the last few years. At present he has to keep working on the knee but he’s fit to play top flight football”.

A longer season
The 2006-07 season finished just last Sunday for Gaby Milito because of his participation in the Copa America with Argentina. Dr Pruna told us: “You can see in the muscle and strength tests that he’s just finished the season. We simply told him to keep on working on the knee and when he returns he’ll join the rest of the squad as normal”.

Due to their participation in the Copa America, Milito, Messi and Márquez will not resume training until after the tour of Asia.
