Zambrotta: “The league is not lost”

www.fcbarcelona.cat

Despite the game lost to Villarreal and the eight points between Barça and the leader, Gianluca Zambrotta believes “the league is not lost yet”. The Italian was impressed by the team’s attitude in the second half.

But the full back was less happy with what he sensed in the first half of the game. “In the first half we played very badly” he said, but that they had responded well with the right mentality after the break.

The following are some of the comments made by FC Barcelona players after the game:

Zambrotta

“I don’t think the league is lost yet. We must keep up our mentality.”

“We are still alive in three competitions. We have to make all the effort we can to stay in all three to the end.”

“We played very badly in the first half but in the second half we went out with a different mentality. But we were unlucky when Villarreal got their second goal while we hadn’t got the goals we deserved.”

“We must keep up the mentality we showed in the second half.”

“I think I’m on good form but more important than personal affairs for me is what the team does.”

Iniesta

“We have to keep going. We have no other choice.”

“We put in a lot of effort, we drew and we had the game under control, but the second goal hit us very hard.”

“We have to think about the next game and we have to close the gap.”

“Anything can change in two weeks, but every week we have less games to go, of course. We hope the gap can be narrowed. We can’t let our heads drop.”

“If we want to be champions we have to look upwards, although Villarreal are now just four points behind.”
