Xavi: “I am happy to score important goals”

Anna Segura

Xavi Hernández has scored yet another important goal that settled the game against Celtic and ensured passage to the next round.

Xavi Hernández’s goals are proving decisive of late and against Celtic it happened again. The midfielder scored an acrobatic goal in the second minute of Barça’s 1-0 win against Celtic.

Xavi Hernández:

“Messi’s injury was a shame. Tomorrow we will know how serious it is”.

“Tonight’s game was something of a formality, but we had to play it”.

“They were well placed on the pitch and so it was a bit hard for us. The first leg had practically decided the tie”.

“I am happy with this run and to help the team by getting important goals”.

“We are into the quarters, and we have the Copa del Rey and League. We aren’t throwing any titles away. But at least on paper we are doing a bit better in the Champions League”.

Sylvinho:

“We are sorry about Messi’s injury as he contributes a lot. The people love him a lot. He needs the squad’s help”.

“I have a good connection with Ronaldinho. We started strong down the left and towards the end I had to tell Ronaldinho to slow down a bit because I was getting tired. But I think we found the right gaps”.

“I have no preferences regarding opponents. The English teams are physically strong and high quality. But personally I thought Milan (who have been knocked out) were one of the most difficult opponents”.

Carles Puyol:

“We should all learn something from seeing Messi cry. We have to let the physios and doctors do their work, because they’re the ones who know about things like this”.

“Any team is difficult. Now we have league and cup games, and we just have to wait and see who we get in the quarters”.
