Zambrotta: "We deserved more"

The over-riding feeling among the players of FC Barcelona was that they should have won the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi final encounter with Valencia after creating so many chances.

Xavi netted a late equaliser to earn the team a draw after David Villa had put the visitors ahead with their only shot on target. That left the squad believing that a victory would have been more justified.

Gianluca Zambrotta:

"The result could have been much better for us. We had created a lot of clear chances. I think Barça deserved a bit more."

"Xavi is a great player. He is in excellent form."

"We had a good mentality. We have to continue like this. Now we are only thinking about the game against Atlético de Madrid because it is a very important league game."

"We played well as a team. Now we have to go to Valencia and win."

Andrés Iniesta:

"I was pleased with Xavi's goal and also because it has given us a even more chance."

"They were well organised and they managed to score against us."

"First we have Atlético de Madrid, then the Champions League, then another league game after that, so the next leg is a long way off."

Johan Neeskens:

"We are happy with the team's work. If we play like this again, I am confident we will reach the final."

"With the intensity with we played, I am sure that we will score goals in Valencia."

"We want continue our good run of form."

"Now we have to forget this game and think about Saturday. We will have to play well in Vicente Calderón to take all three points."

"Messi is an exceptional player. He played very well. It is incredible that at just 20 he has played in 100 matches. We expect him to now play another 100."

Laporta: "I hope that we will go through"
After the game, president Joan Laporta congratulated the team for their effort which earned a draw. "We looked to score from the first minute," he said. "Xavi's goal was our reward and I hope that it will help us through. Cup ties are played over 180 minutes and therefore changes the way games are approached."
