Remember, remember.... the end of November!

Roger Bogunyà

FC Barcelona have won every game they’ve played on the last weekend of November for the past six years and with the big game against Madrid again closing the month, the stats are all in Barça’s favour.

November is traditionally a difficult month for Barça, with international call ups and plenty of trips in Champions League, but over the last six seasons the team have consistently finished the month in style, winning all of their games, including last season’s 1-0 defeat of Real Madrid.

Last failed to win in 2003

The last time the team failed to record a win on the last weekend before December was in the 2003/4 season when they were held to a goalless draw at the Nou Camp by Valladolid.

Four big scores

ronaldinho3.jpgThe results over the next four seasons were much more impressive, with big wins over Getafe (1-3), Racing (4-1), Villarreal (4-0) and over Recreativo (3-0 in the 07/08 season).

29N for the third year on the run

The last two seasons have seen Barça play on the same date –November 29th, and against top opposition. In 2008, Guardiola’s team travelled to the Sanchez Pijuan and won 0-3 and last season an Ibrahimovic goal gave them the 1-0 win over Real Madrid at the Nou Camp. Will this year see them stretch that winning record to seven?
