Bojan feeling good

Bojan Krkic believes that this could be a vital season in his development at FC Barcelona as he hopes to step up another level and play regularly in Pep Guardiola’s side.

The Linyola-born striker is looking forward to the big kick off at the end of August and wants to show what he can do. “This is an important season,” he explained. “I intend to move forward and take more responsibility within the team.”

Highest level

Last term Bojan made 36 appearances for the first team and scored 12 goals. “I am very proud of my time at the club as much for what I did in the youth ranks as I have done for the first team,” he continued. “Now I want to triumph at the top. I hope to be able to play and participate. Last year I showed that I can perform at decisive times. My personal aim is to continue to grow, to stay on the same line by working hard and, little-by-little, take advantage of the time the coach gives me.”

New boy

David Villa’s arrival has seen competition for places up front in Guardiola’s time increase, but Bojan is ready for the challenge. “He has so much quality and will be important for us.”

Villa adaption

“Villa is humble and always looks for help from his team-mates from what I have seen when on international duty with him,” he continued.” He is a good player who will bring positive things to us and he is adapting well. He will soon become familiar with all of us and we want o make him as comfortable as possible.”

Bouncebackability

Barça were beaten 3-1 in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup by Sevilla last weekend, but Bojan sees no reason why the Catalan outfit will not turn it round. “We have a real chance and the fact that we are playing at home is important,” he explained. “We will have chances and we have to ensure we take them. Let’s hope that we have some fortune in the second leg and can lift the trophy. We can do it.”

Youth work

Guardiola looks set to use a number of youngsters this season and Bojan thinks it is a good move. “All of them are so good,” he said. “They showed the other day that they can perform at this level. They can help ensure that the team is highly competitive. I try to keep them calm and show them the way, but they do not need much help because they have done well.”
