Abidal, the first of the World Cup contingent

French international Eric Abidal is the first of the World Cup contingent to report back to the Club for his medical examination and to start training.

Abidal was at the Club on Monday morning to take the usual pre-season medical and will join the group for training this evening.

A testing morning

He underwent the standard medical examinations such as an echocardiogram and an electrocardiogram, as well as weight and bmi tests.

The first of twelve

The next members of the World Cup group to report back for training will be Márquez, Alves and Messi, who are scheduled to return before the players leave for the tour of Asia on Sunday. The bulk of the internationals should be back with the squad immediately after the tour.
