After 35 years out of the top flight, Granada won the play off final against Elche to ensure they will again be playing the likes of Barça next season. Granada join the automatically promoted sides Betis and Rayo in La Liga for the 2011-12 season.

Granada are La Liga team number 20 for the 2011-12 season

Following the goalless draw in the first game at home, Granada got through on the away goal rule with a 1-1 draw in Elche on Saturday night. The play offs were held between the fourth and seventh teams in the Liga Adelante – Barca B were third but barred from promotion, whilst Rayo and champions Betis went straight up. Celta and Valladolid fell in the semis and it was the Granada club who finally won the right to play with the big boys next year.

Good record for Barça

Granada were last in the top flight in the 1975-76 season, when they were relegated after ten seasons in Primera. Barça have faced Granada 34 times in the league competition and have won 26, drawing and losing four times. In their 17 visits to the Camp Nou, Granada have never even taken a point, having lost every game.
