Zubizarreta: “We need our fans”

Marc Guillén/David Puig

Andoni Zubizarreta has asked the Barça fans to make every effort to get to London for Saturday’s final, despite all the potential difficulties. Zubi also revealed that he feels this team is under less pressure than the 92 team.

Zubizarreta: “We need our fans”

Barça’s Sporting Director of Professional Football, Andoni Zubizarreta spoke to the media in London on Wednesday and talked about his feelings ahead of Saturday’s final.

Zubizarreta accepted the difficulties that the Barça fans could face in reaching the final, but made a plea for them to make every effort: “I know it’s not easy, but let’s hope we can all be there for the final. Football is for the fans and a club is nothing without them .I want the fans to know that we need them and I hope that they can get here as easily as possible”.

Less historical pressure than in ‘92

Zubizarreta is of course back at the scene of 1992’s first European Cup win and he revealed: “since we got here, I’ve been looking for little signs that will make me think we will win like we did in 1992”.

This team have less historical expectation on their shoulders than we did, though I don’t think that means they will be going into the game with any less desire. You have to treat each game with the particular circumstances surrounding it and right now we have a final against a great team ahead of us”.
