First session of the day

This morning Barça have held the first of two training sessions planned for this Wednesday, with another scheduled for this evening. The morning session featured the same players who turned out on Tuesday.

After the Christmas holidays Josep Guardiola wants to make sure his players are at peak form and fitness so he’s scheduled two training sessions for today, Wednesday, at the club’s Ciudad Deportiva Joan Gamper facility. The first of the two began this morning at 11 o’clock.

Same players

Fifteen first team players turned out to continue getting ready for a packed January which begins at home to Villarreal in the League on Saturday. Guardiola had also invited the same four young reserve team players, Víctor Vázquez, Gai Assulin, Thiago Alcántara and Jonathan dos Santos, who had trained with the first team on Tuesday.

Recovery work for injured players

Iniesta, Keita and Jeffren have spent the morning working on their own to recover from the various injuries that they have.

Messi and Márquez are still away with the club’s permission and won’t be back until 2 January. Touré is with Ivory Coast getting ready for the start of the African Cup of Nations.
