FC Barcelona’s first-team were put through their paces on Thursday afternoon following their qualification for the Champions League first knockout stage the evening before.

Lionel Messi was not able to participate though as he underwent tests on an ankle injury that have seen him ruled out of the local derby against Espanyol at the weekend.

Gym work

The Barça stars that began the game against Dynamo Kiev in Ukraine also did not go out and instead remained in the gymnasium to warm down. The one exception was Víctor Valdés who took part in the first part of the session.

Young stars

In order to make up the number coach Pep Guardiola called upon the services of Young goalkeeper Jordi Masip as well as Jonathan Dos Santos and Thiago Alcántara. The three enjoyed the full training session alongside the first-team players.

Specific routine

Jeffren did not travel to Ukraine because of a knee injury and he again spent the afternoon working with a coach on a specific training routine of his own.
