Another award for Messi

Leo Messi has picked up the award as best player of the 08/09 Champions League, given jointly by the “Marca” and ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ sports papers.
In the voting, by the two papers' readers, for the Champions Número 1 award, Messi was the only
player to receive more than 200.000 points (213.000). Behind Messi came the veteran Juve striker
Alessandro del Piero, and Andrés Iniesta.

Previous awards
Leo Messi was chosen as the Player of the Tournament and best striker of the 2008/09 Champions
League by UEFA, awards he also picked up from the LFP as the best player and striker in the Spanish
League. Messi is also a favourite for this year's World and European Player of the Year awards.
