“If I score goals it’s thanks to my team-mates”

Pedro Rodríguez reaffirmed his love affair with goals scoring two more against Cultural Leonesa. However, after the match he directed all the credit to his team-mates.

Pedro was the star of the show in the Reino de Leon where Barça took a big step towards the R16 of the Spanish Cup.

He expressed his gratitude to Guardiola and told reporters he was delighted with both the result and his two goals. He has now scored in every competition but believes his team-mates deserve much of the credit: “If I score goals it’s thanks to my team-mates, who give me good passes”.

“We knew that the match would be complicated…there’s a match left to play…we hope we can clinch it at home”.

Sergio Busquets:

“We’re separate from what the other teams are doing and what the papers say. We just focus on Barça”.

“We go out at 100% and we always look for a victory. The team worked hard and deserved to win”.

“They gave it everything they had and in the second half they paid the price”.

“The reserves have some great players and we can rely on them. They’re ready to play in the first team”.

“We’re the treble winning team but the treble was last year and if we want to win it again we have to take it a step at a time”.

“We’ve taken a big step forward but it’s not definitive. Now we have the return match”.

Pinto:

“In training, I try and work on details such as measuring distances”.

“We’ve learned the lesson of last year against Benidorm”.

Jeffren debuts at full back
Jeffren featured in the starting line-up at right back and surprised everyone. Although it’s not his usual position he produced a good performance. Well into the second half he moved forward to a more familiar attacking position and ended up providing a goal assist to Pedro.

After the match he thanked Guardiola for his chance: “Wherever he puts me I’ll always want to play”. Asked about his apparent connection with Pedro he explained that right from the youth squad they have been known as the “Canary connection”.
