Sir Bobby Robson, Rest In Peace

Former Barça manager, Sir Bobby Robson, has died on Friday morning at the age of 76 following a long battle with cancer. The Englishman managed FC Barcelona in the 1996/97 season.


FC Barcelona is in mourning. On Friday morning the football world lost a true gentleman in Sir Bobby Robson . He was 76 when he died after a long battle against cancer. Robson was in charge of the FCB first team in the 1996/97 season, winning the European Cup Winners Cup, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup. The following year he stayed on as director of football before returning to manage Dutch club PSV Eindhoven for the second time in 1998.

He was only at Barça for a short time, but Robson won the fans’ hearts and has always been remembered with much affection,

Long and distinguished managerial career

3619_01_23.jpgSir Bobby Robson is one of world football’s true legendary figures. When he retired as a player in 1967, he turned to management. Apart from Barça, he also managed the Vancouver Royals, Ipswich Town, the English national team, PSV Eindhoven, Sporting Lisbon, Porto and Newcastle.
