Maxwell comes to Barça aged 27 having gained knowledge and experience from three of the important schools of football in the world: the Brazilian, Dutch and Italian.

Scherrer Cabelino Maxwell Andrade is the full name of the new addition to the Barça squad for the 2009-10 season, but he prefers to be known as simply Maxwell. The left back has arrived from Inter Milan, where he spent the last three seasons. He is a versatile player, for in the past he has not only played in defence, but in more advanced positions too.

European experience

He spent the next four seasons in Amsterdam, where he soon made a name for himself as one of the brightest prospects in the game.

From one historic club, he then went to another, Inter Milan. The Italian outfir loaned him out to Empoli for half a season before he started playing for the black and blues in 2006-07. In those 3 seasons, Maxwell won 3 league titles plus two Italian Super Cups.
