Away kit changes

FC Barcelona officially introduced an away kit just under 100 years ago and since then the team has played in a range of different colours as an alternative to the familiar blau and grana stripes of the home shirt.

The first change strip came in 1913 and saw the players don a white jersey with blue shorts and those colours were maintained until the 1975/76 season when yellow was introduced.

Colour scheme

A growing rivalry with Real Madrid meant that change of thought was required by the kit manufacturers as white was no longer accepted as a colour for any of Barça's kit. Instead the yellow away shirt became a familiar sight in the late 1970's and 1980's.

Meyba kit

Meyba produced the FC Barcelona kit in the 1980's and early 1990's and it was during that time that the away shirt was yellow with a blau and grana stripe down the side of the front.

Wembley wonder

At the start of the 90's a slight alteration was made as the second kit became more orange and it was that colour that the team donned at Wembley in 1992 when they won the European Cup for the first time against Sampdoria.

Kappa takeover

In 1992 Kappa won the contract to produce Barça's kit and until 1997/98 and it was during that era that several new colours were seen. with green, blue and bright orange all being used as alternatives.

Nike changes

Nike then took over the production of the kit and silver was chosen as the away colour. Gold, various different blues, beige, fluorescent yellow, turquoise, orange, yellow and pink have all been used and the supporters have been keen to buy them all.
