Argentina cruise to win without rested Messi

Argentina and Mexico both began their World Cup preparations with games on Monday –Maradona’s team, without Messi, beat Canada in Buenos Aires, whilst Marquez played the full 90 minutes in his team’s 3-1 defeat to England at Wembley.

After picking up a slight knock in training this week, Leo Messi sat out Argentina’s comfortable 5-0 win over Canada at the Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires, whilst Rafa Marquez played a holding midfielder role in Mexico’s defeat with Barca’s other Mexican international Jonathon Dos Santos, not used.
